La Sociedad Hispánica is looking for our executive board for the 2024- 2025 Academic Year!

Located below are the descriptions of the opening positions and requirements to apply. Application for elections will close Thursday, April 18th

 

Elections will be held in person during LSH's GB Meeting (Friday, April 19th from 2-3pm). Candidates will give a 1-3 minute speech and participate in an open floor segment where audience members will get to ask questions (this will be overseen by LSH President & LSH Faculty Advisor). At least two questions must be answered. Candidates must be present during elections/speeches or they will be disqualified. 

Requirements

  • Be a current ​UTA student

  • Be a current LSH member (have been a member for at least one semester)

  • You must give a minimum of a 1 minute speech

  • You must participate in the open floor segment

  • Must be available for general body meetings (Friday's 2-3pm)

* If you do not meet the requirements stated above, your application will be disregarded *

President 

  • Preside over meetings

  • Set agenda for meetings

  • Decide questions of order

  • Appoint Committees

  • Vote in meetings to break ties

  • Serve as the organization's official representative

  • Make sure all officers are performing their duties

Vice President

  • Handle all paperwork (book meetings, locations, events, fill out forms, etc.)

  • Help President with any job necessary

  • Assume the duties of the President in their absence

  • Complete other important duties as stated or needed

Secretary

  • Notify all members of the organization meetings

  • Take minutes of the meetings

  • Maintain current attendance records

  • Maintain a schedule of events

  • Be the official record keeper for the organization

  • Send Weekly emails (emails must be sent by Wednesday at 5pm at the latest)

  • Review and respond to emails from the LSH gmail

  • Send important emails to exec members (based on importance)

  • Perform other important duties as needed or stated

Treasurer

  • Record and monitor all LSH funds and budgeting

  • Present financial report weekly

  • Help with budget for events, retract money & input money into the LSH account

  • Complete the Profit/Loss report as needed

  • Perform other important duties as needed or stated

Public Relations Chair

  • Increase awareness about the organization

  • Take pictures/videos of both events & meetings

  • Connect through social media 

  • Create and post flyers on social media

  • Must notify all executive members over any organization outreach obtained through social media

  • Take charge of advertising if needed (handing out flyers for events)

  • Perform other important duties as needed or stated

Community Service Chair

  • Keep track of hours obtained by both members & officers

  • Find & provide community service opportunities 

  • Provide two large community service events per semester

  • Lead community service opportunities as needed

  • Delegate alongside LSH President, the amount of hours earned per volunteer opportunity/event

  • Perform other important duties as needed or stated

Sports Coordinator

  • Find members to participate 

  • Ensure rules are being followed 

  • Coordinate & attend practices

  • Register the organization for selected sports 

  • Attend ALL games and practices

  • Lead all sports-related activities

  • Host office hours at least twice a month

  • Perform other important duties as needed or stated

Fundraising Chair

  • Coordinate fundraising activities and events

  • Plan, organize, & manage these events

  • Meet w/ treasurer & event coordinator to see what funds are needed per semester

  • Conduct a set amount of fundraisers per month

  • Conduct at least two major fundraisers per semester

  • Document fundraising ideas for future use

  • Meet with organization President & Vice President to discuss upcoming events (3 weeks in advance)

  • Ensure LSH Vice President submits documentation of event, at least 2 weeks in advance

  • Perform other important duties as needed or stated

Event Coordinator

  • Handle social & large events

  • Plan, organize, & manage events

  • Work alongside LSH President & VP to coordinate events

  • Partner with PR to ensure the exposure of larger event

  • Meet w/ treasurer to get a prospective budget on events

  • Coordinate at least two events per month

  • Conduct documentation of ideas for future use

  • Meet with organization President & Vice President to discuss upcoming events (3 weeks in advance)

  • Ensure LSH Vice President submits documentation of event, at least 2 weeks in advance

  • Perform other important duties as needed or stated

Social Chair

  • Ensure organization motto continues throughout the entirety of the academic year

    • Encourage & embrace Hispanic culture on campus through a fun and safe environment

  • Conduct at least 1 social per month

  • Lead and create social activities for all general body meetings

  • Perform other important duties as needed or stated
